More than the Home of Dragon Fruit,Complete Package of Sea, Land, Air Travel.
Rising Star of Short Getaway – Sungai Pelek, Sepang

Located in the state of Selangor, Sepang District is widely known locally and internationally as the home to the Sepang International Circuit and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Little known, Sepang is also a hidden haven of new village delicacies and an ideal destination for a short getaway!

As a township along the Federal Route 5, Sepang is famous among the locals for its coastal fishing villages, sumptuous seafood, and giant dragon fruit. It can be touted as one of the best eco-tourism destinations in Malaysia!

However, if we travel southwards from Klang to Sepang via the Federal Route 5 from Banting, the road condition of this trunk road is poor with often traffic jams due to development and construction on both sides of the road. Therefore, we choose to take other way round.

Tourists from Northern Malaysia and Klang can take the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), make an exit at Exit 103 Jelutong, Shah Alam, and enter ELITE Expressway (E6), towards Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA); meanwhile, tourists from Kuala Lumpur can start their journey from the Sungei Besi Toll of the North-South Expressway (NSE), and tourists from Southern Malaysia can take the ELITE Expressway from Exit 214 Nilai Utara of NSE (E2) and travel towards KLIA. In both directions, they can take the Exit KLIA of the expressway, drive towards Sepang International Circuit (SIC), and then slide over to the expanded B48 state highway to the intersection of Pekan Sepang Lama, turn right and enter Sepang new village along Federal Route 5, and then drive towards Sungai Pelek adjacent to it.

Starting from Sepang, you can visit Sungai Pelek, Tanjung Sepat, Banting and Jenjarom all the way north, and then return to Klang to save time and avoid being caught in traffic jams.

A Lineup of Attractions Awaiting Exploration

New tourism attractions are often spread by word of mouth; first among the locals, and then gradually to the greater public. For example, the Sepang Mars Hill, which was initially popular among the locals, has now become a new attraction. From dragon fruit, Foochow delicacies, seafood, river cruise, beach, and mangroves, Sepang indeed has it all!

The Sepang Mars Hill is located within a palm oil plantation. It was accidentally discovered by local enthusiastic mountain climbers and hikers. Later, a proper road was developed, and this attracted more visitors from near and far.

The Sepang Mars Hill is named for its barren scene similar to the surface of Mars, with views comparable to the Pinnacles in Australia or Yehliu Geopark of Taiwan. The Mars Hill used to be a small hill almost razed to the ground 20 years ago for the construction of Kuala Lumpur International Airport, leaving hard stones that cannot be used for construction, and thus forming various interesting landscapes.

Of course, one scenic spot could be uninviting for many, but Sepang has much more attractions, activities, and food to offer for a fun-packed 3-day and 2-night getaway.
